Poor Notme. He really is an example of not judging on appearances. He was made for evil intent (no doubt he will tell you all about it if you decide to adopt him) and his face was sewn to reflect that. Toys have no control over how they look – it is totally in the maker’s power which also seals their fate as to how they are treated. Notme was bought to the Emporium by my brother, Reverend Malachi. He had found him shivering in one of the choir stalls, banging his head against the wood and repeating over and over again ‘Not Me!’ After many hours of sitting with him Notme told me he escaped from his maker but wherever he turned for help on his travels he was met with hostility and fear because of the way he looked. He insists that his face is ‘Not Me’ and that he would like the opportunity to show that his heart is not as black as the rest of him. As part of his rehabilitation I helped him make a new face, which he hopes will endear him to the right family, enabling him to fit into a society which has, up to now, rejected him.
