Curragh is a Celtic word that translates as "from the moor". All those who reside in the lost county of Hookland know that you should never take anything from Barrowcross Moor unless you are prepared for Barrowcross Moor to take something from you. But there are very rare occasions when a Curragh arrives on the doorstep of my Doll Emporium seeking a new home.

This Curragh is covered in cup and ring marks. Dating back to the Neolithic peoples their true purpose is unknown although a spiritual purpose has been suggested.

"Cup and ring marks of Barrowcross Moor are mystery manifest

in grooves. Taunt of code beyond our power to decipher."

Hookland Guide

This Curragh would love to live with someone who needs a bit of grounding and re-connecting with the earth. As with many standing stones this Curragh may occasionally wander at night but will always be found back in the same place when dawn breaks.

"Rumour, folklore, superstition - all the things you cannot kill,

they live out on Barrowcross Moor. - Matt Adams, 1980"
